紙を漆で塗り固めたパピエマシェの、小さな二重筒のシガーケースです。外筒に内筒が収まり、前面の弧を描いた切り欠きに指をかけて押し出すと中身が現れます。黒漆の上に金で星が散らしてあり、光の角度が合ったときだけ一斉に浮かび上がります。持ち歩かれた跡が細かな擦れになって表面に残り、角の丸みはその年月のぶんだけ深くなっています。

A small two-part cigar case in papier-mâché — paper built up in layers and hardened with lacquer. The inner sleeve sits inside the outer one, and the curved cut-away at the front is where a thumb pushes it out. Gold stars are scattered across the black lacquer, and they all come up together when the light finds the right angle. Fine scratches record the years it was carried, and the corners are rounded by the same years.
