細い帯を織るための綜絖（そうこう）です。並んだ羽の中央に開いた小さな穴と、羽と羽のあいだの隙間に、経糸を一本ずつ交互に通します。全体を持ち上げると穴に通した糸だけが上がり、下げるとその糸だけが下がる。そのたびに開く隙間へ緯糸を通していくと、帯が織り上がります。ベルト、靴の紐、前掛けの紐、荷を縛る帯 ── 農家で要る紐は、こうして自分たちで織られていました。緑の彩色は当時のままで、手の触れるところだけ擦れて下の木地が覗いています。上の弧は握りです。

A rigid heddle for weaving narrow bands. The warp threads pass alternately through the small holes drilled in the slats and through the gaps between them; lift the frame and only the threads in the holes rise, lower it and only those drop, and each movement opens a shed for the weft to go through. Belts, shoelaces, apron ties, the bands used to lash a load — a farm wove its own. The green paint is original, worn back to bare wood exactly where hands held it. The arch at the top is the grip.
